Baby Steps First! If you are new to things like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. don't overwhelm yourself. Pick one and use it until you become comfortable and can navigate through it with ease. If you are confident you have mastered one platform, ease yourself into a new one if it seems like the right thing to do. You don't have to be everywhere to make an impact!
Schedule time to spend on your platforms. If you are on more than one platform and have multiple accounts (example: Facebook for personal and a business page + Pinterest for personal boards and business boards), you don't need to visit all of them every day. Write up a weekly plan that has you visiting, posting or sharing on Facebook every Monday and Wednesday, Pinterest on Tuesdays and Fridays, and LinkedIn on Thursdays. The less you pile on your daily to do list, the easier it will be to manage and stay current!
Set a timer! It's super easy to get lost on social media, all the cute cat videos and awesome things to pin to on Pinterest. If you find yourself frequently being led astray, it may be time to limit yourself by setting a timer. Most phones have the timer feature available with the alarm clock, or you can download an app or purchase a fun kitchen timer. Give yourself 15 to 30 minutes to visit your designation and when the timer goes off, move on!
I hope you've found these tips helpful! If you've discovered more ways to help limit time on social media, I'd love for you to share!
